Orchids For Candace

Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small. We haven't time, and to see takes time - like to have a friend takes time.

Self Portrait

Cheryl Todd Shergold Self Portrait
A self portrait completed referencing an image of myself that was taken in 1987. The world seemed to be a simpler place. We didn't seem to realize what our blatant disrespect of nature would cost us. I painted this portrait to show the sadness I feel that we, as a society, and all of our knowledge...still are not listening to Mother Nature.

Gorilla House and Friends

On October 16th I went to Gorilla House Live Art to go see my painter friend Kathleen Moors. I am always in awe of the community of artists that connect in the house! Kathleen is one of those people that makes you feel as though you have been friends forever! I was blessed and won both of her pieces in the live auction! I have given her great people a home and permanent place in my studio. I am hoping to get to know their spirits on a higher level!

Affirmation Cards

Today's task was to make affirmation cards to place in my creative space. I "up-cycled" some older watercolour adventures for the cause! I am off today to go buy a clothesline and clothes pins so that I can hang them in my space! I am truly enjoying this e-course!

A loving Self Portrait

One of the tasks for the online E-course I am taking was to post a self portrait on Instagram and Facebook. So why not here? Hello world...this is me!

Majestic Giants

"A grove of giant redwoods or sequoias should be kept just as we keep a great or beautiful cathedral. The extermination of the passenger pigeon meant that mankind was just so much poorer; exactly as in the case of the destruction of the cathedral at Rheims. And to lose the chance to see frigate-birds soaring in circles above the storm, or a file of pelicans winging their way homeward across the crimson afterglow of the sunset, or a myriad terns flashing in the bright light of midday as they hover in a shifting maze above the beach—why, the loss is like the loss of a gallery of the masterpieces of the artists of old time."

— Theodore Roosevelt

In A Book-Lover's Holidays in the Open (1916), 316-317.

Ocean Blue

Roll on, deep and dark blue ocean, roll. Ten thousand fleets sweep over thee in vain. Man marks the earth with ruin, but his control stops with the shore.
